Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, Graham Doyle and the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team headed to Road America this weekend to compete in the newly formatted six-hour endurance challenge. Michelin Endurance Cup co-driver, Doyle, took on qualifying duties for the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD team seeing them start from 16th in Sunday’s show. After six hours of intense racing action, the No. 45 GTD team saw the checkered flag from 12th position.

IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup co-driver, Graham Doyle, tackled the qualifying duties in the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in drying track conditions after a day of rain that saw the team starting from 16th for Sunday’s six-hour race. With six-hours of racing ahead of them, the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team was ready to battle forward as Doyle took on the opening stint. Doyle’s stint saw a series of yellow flags that limited his opportunity to progress forward but remained on the lead lap with the GTD class before Doyle brought the Lamborghini machinery into pit lane for a swift driver change to Danny Formal along with a full-service pit stop.

Formal put his head down and got to work, making skillfully executed moves forward in the pack of GTDs. Finding a rhythm, Formal continued to work his way forward lap after lap, seeing him racing as high as third before coming into pit lane for a full service and a driver change to Trent Hindman with just under two hours to go.

While the pit stop cycled Hindman a few spots back in the pack of GTDs, he was prepared to use the remaining time to make his way forward and build off Formal’s impressive performance. As the race came to less than one hour, Hindman came into pit lane for a pit stop that unfortunately saw the team being served a drive-through penalty, trickling them down the running order. With little time to make strategic attempts to gain position and a handful of cautions, the No. 45 saw the checkered flag from 12th place in the GTD class.

“Everybody did a great job,” said team co-owner, Wayne Taylor. “The crew, the drivers, all of them, and, I'm just happy that we've got such a close-knit group of people who have each other's backs and they should be very proud.”

The GTD full season co-drivers of Formal and Hindman return to racing action in just three short weeks at VIRginia International Raceway for their next sprint race of the season on August 21-23, 2026.

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “First and foremost, happy for the No. 10 and the No. 40 guys. I don't think there's another team that works harder than these two, maybe the No. 45 crew, but it's all the same group. So, I’m really happy for their success. They deserve it. It's a long time coming. For us, it was a tough day. I mean second to last (pit) stop, a lot of cars short fueled. We took a full amount of fuel just to make sure we were clear to the end. Then I guess at some point we had maybe a small glitch with the pit speed limiter and ended up getting busted for pit speed. So that's a real bummer. I'll see what I can do in terms of processes. Maybe there's a mistake that I made and caused something to happen. But either way, just really bummed. We had very high expectations. But again, it's been three or more races now where we've executed really good with the car. It's been fast, so no reason that will be any different for VIR.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Road America's over. Bittersweet. I had one of my better stints in that car this year coming from P12 all the way to P3. We cycled back a couple of spots in the pit stop. Unfortunately, we got a drive-through for speeding in pit lane. We still don't really know what happened there. We did our normal process, but we were 11 miles an hour over the speed limit. So, once we got that, it was kind of game over for us. Some people didn't take a pit stop on the yellow. We came in the pit, and some people stayed out, so they got lucky because there was a lot of yellows at the end. I'm not sure where we finished, but I'm very proud of the guys. We showed that we had a good car. The car is definitely better in clean air, and unfortunately, we weren't in a lot of clean air today, but really proud of everyone, really proud of Graham. Graham did probably his best stint he's ever done in that car today. So, I’m excited for VIR, Indy, and Petit Le Mans.”

Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: "Not the day we were hoping for in Road America. After working our way into the Top 3 and fighting for a podium a late penalty took us out of contention. Regardless still so proud of this WTR team and the work they put into today’s race. Also happy for our sister car, the No. 10, for getting the win they deserved. Onto Indy”
