As the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship reaches its last stretch of events, the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team looks to build on their sprint race success this season having scored two top-five results in their last two sprint races, highlighted by a class win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The No. 45 Lamborghini GTD team looks to continue this momentum as they head to VIRginia International Raceway for their penultimate two-hour, 40-minute sprint race of the year.

The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR is the only standalone GT event on the IMSA schedule featuring the GTD and GTD PRO categories competing on the 3.27-mile road course with Danny Formal and Trent Hindman handling driving duties in the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD. This will be Formal’s third year at VIR in GTD competition with his best finish of 11th in 2024, while Hindman has shown his skill at this circuit having seen the podium steps at this event twice in past years (2017, 2019).

Formal, Hindman, and the No. 45 Lamborghini GTD team will begin on-track preparations on Friday, August 21, with practice at 3:10 p.m. ET. Saturday, August 22, will see a second practice session at 10:30 a.m. ET ahead of their qualifying session that afternoon at 4:50 p.m. ET. The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR will go green at 12:10 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 23, with all racing action broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock.

VIR is challenging since it’s so high speed, narrow, and provides no margin for error - I think that’s why all of us drivers love it and it’s become such a staple on our calendar. I think I can go out on a limb and speak for the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini team and say that our expectation, always, is to win. Between the quality of work performed by our team this year in developing the performance of our car throughout a race weekend and the lineup of Danny and me, I think we can certainly find ourselves in the hunt for another race victory.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “My favorite track of year, VIR, is up next. Coming away from a decent sprint championship so far this season with the win in Laguna Seca and P2 in Qualifying at Long Beach. It’s a big return for me after having the biggest accident of my life there last year, so I’m super excited to go back there. We managed to lead a few laps there before the pit cycle started, and we had a good race there last year. I think we’ve improved the car in every single aspect of it, so I’m excited to get going and go racing.
