Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, Graham Doyle and the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO of Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) took on the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen in what was poised to be an exciting day of racing for the GTD team after over a month long break from racing. Graham Doyle, IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup co-driver, took on qualifying duties and managed his best GTD qualifying performance to start the No. 45 GTD in sixth position out of the 20 GTD cars on the grid.

Doyle got the day started for the No. 45 GTD team, and was ready to make his way forward at the drop of the green flag. As Doyle took to his first laps around the 11-turn road course, he quickly felt an issue on the left tire that saw him coming into the pits. On a fresh set of tires, the team sent Doyle back out on track to determine if the issue had been fully resolved, but shortly after returning on track the issue persisted, bringing him back in for an emergency pit stop under caution where he handed driving duties over to Danny Formal to validate the car’s condition.

Formal took to the track, but an extended full course yellow took away the immediate opportunity to validate the cars racing potential. As the field took the green flag, Formal put the car to the test, but after a handful of racing laps it was evident that further assessment was needed at the garage to understand the mechanical issue at hand.

After taking time at the garages to perform repairs and evaluate the status of the No. 45, Trent Hindman. The team managed to get a handful of green flag laps in before returning to the paddock ending their day early, and ultimately finishing 20th.  

All sights are set on the next sprint race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on July 10-12, 2026, the site of the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD program’s maiden win last year.

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Obviously coming off a win at Laguna Seca, you want to carry the momentum forward into the next group of events. We had high hopes for this race this year. Unfortunately, a mechanical issue in Practice 1 put us on the back foot in terms of speed. I think we did a really good job to recover through Practice 2, considering the lack of track time, which is so, so important here. And then just, unfortunately, in the race, Graham had been hit by another car early on and that caused some damage to the car which continued to develop throughout the length of his stint. Good, good job by him to recognize that things weren't right and communicate exactly what he was feeling. Super calm the whole time. Very proud of how he handled a very tough situation. I think it goes to show the driver development that we have as an organization here between Lamborghini Super Trofeo and now GTD. But still disappointing nonetheless. Just looking forward to a good round at Mosport in a few weeks.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “The 6 Hours of The Glen did not go as expected. The guys at WTR gave us a great car. Something completely out of our control happened and so, early day for us. The positives - Graham felt very, very comfortable in a stint until the problem. It gives us a lot of confidence coming up with the few tracks that we know are that we've been really good at last year: Road America, Mosport. So super excited for the future and grateful for this opportunity. Always driving around this place in a GT3 car feels incredible. Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Unfortunate race for us today.The car was really good. Super proud of the WTR team; super happy with the qualifying performance. Starting P6 is my highest starting position ever in IMSA and GTD, so that's a lot of fun. Great start there, battling with some guys, staying in the mix where we started my stint. Unfortunately, we picked up some damage in the beginning laps that led us to have to come into the pits early to try to diagnose things and then ended up in the garage, which is never where you want to be. However, a lot of positives coming out of this weekend from the team, a lot of hard work went into this car. I know the guys will be ready to go in Mosport.”
