With two events remaining in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the duo of Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTPs returned to the sprint racing format for the final time in 2026 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Filipe Albuquerque and Louis Delétraz handled qualifying duties for the No. 10 and No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP teams seeing them start the race from seventh and fourth position, respectively. Following the two hours, 40 minutes of intense sprint racing, the No. 40 finished in fourth with No.10 team in sixth.
In the No. 10, Albuquerque had a clean start but an incident in Turn 1 after the green flag brought the field to a full course caution and the Portuguese driver made a quick maneuver to avoid contact in the opening lap. The field went back racing and Albuquerque carefully maintained position as he navigated class traffic. As the field neared the halfway mark, Albuquerque – operating on an overcut strategy - came into pit lane after the leading GTPs for a full service of tires, fuel, and a swift driver change to Ricky Taylor. Taylor made his way into sixth before a yellow flag called him back to pit lane for left side tires only and fuel that would see him through to the end of the race. With green flag racing from that restart onward, Taylor worked to navigate class traffic and capitalize on no fuel and energy saving before crossing the finish line in sixth position.
For the No. 40, Delétraz carefully maintained his starting position through the green flag before a caution in Turn 1, Lap 1. As the field went green again, Delétraz worked to hold position and stay within the top five. Just shy of halfway, Delétraz made his way to pit lane alongside the race leaders to hand over the No. 40 Cadillac WTR machinery to Jordan Taylor. With a fresh set of tires and a full tank of fuel, Taylor was ready to contest and work his way to the front. Taylor settled into position when the field saw another yellow bringing the No. 40 into pit lane for a top up on fuel and new left side tires. On that pit stop under yellow, the choice for two left tires propelled Taylor to third in the running order. With an hour left on the clock and no additional cautions, Taylor diligently kept within distance of podium contention before finishing the day in fourth.
“We came here knowing that the goal was to help Cadillac win the Manufacturers Championship, we hoped to repeat our success from Road America but didn’t quite go our way,” said team co-owner, Wayne Taylor. “You have to keep your head up and keep motivating everybody. I’m looking forward to Petit very much; it’s a race we’ve won three times and hopefully we can end the season with a win there.”
Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing will see a short turnaround and head to the season finale for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, MOTUL Petit Le Mans, on September 30- October 3, 2026, at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Driver Quotes
Ricky Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “I think we showed signs that we could move forward, but in the end, it was a bit of a hard day. It was nice for the 40 to get in the fight there on the last stint. Thanks to the WTR team for the hard work, and we’ll head to Petit.”
Filipe Albuquerque, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Nothing special today. P6 at the line. I think we’re missing a little bit of pace. Not so far, although everyone was close, but I think being behind and getting in traffic made it tough. Onto Petit, the last race of the year. I think generally we are getting better, but still, there is a gap with being more consistent on pace. Every race we’re getting better, so it will be nice to end the season. We started the season with the rhythm killing us a bit. We will be able to take learnings to Petit to be strong for the next season.”
Jordan Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Not a bad day points wise. I made a mistake on my first out lap, thankfully the yellow kind of reset it. The guys made a good call to do two tires and get us some track position back. We short-filled and gained track position but had to manage it a little bit. I think that was the only way to get a better result given where we were after the first hour. Coming away with fourth, I’m a little disappointed, but all-in-all, I think we should be happy with the points heading into Petit.”
Louis Delétraz, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Good race today. We started up front and it was a quite aggressive start from everybody, but we survived and remained in fourth. We seemed to be a little slower in the first 20 laps of the stint, and in the last 20, the car was awesome on tire degradation. We made our pit stop and gained some position. Then there was some good strategy from the team at the last yellow to jump some people in the pits and we were fighting for the podium. We ended the day in P4, so just below it, but we can be proud of our race. Thank you to Wayne Taylor Racing, Jordan, and Cadillac.”
