Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing tackled the historic California circuit of WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway for the second round of the regular schedule of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing arrived on the hunt for their maiden win of the 2026 season. The weekend started off strong with an impressive qualifying performance from Louis Delétraz securing the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP their first pole position of the year, while the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Racing Taylor V-Series.R GTP saw Filipe Albuquerque securing a seventh-place starting position.
As the green flag flew, Delétraz carefully defended his front row position from the start, while Albuquerque looked to make his way through the pack of GTP competitors. An unfortunate incident less than 20-minutes into the race saw the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor V-Series.R GTP obtain contact at the rear resulting in a cut tire and suspension damage sending the car into the garage for repairs. While the car was briefly able to return to the track, this would ultimately result in an early retirement for the No. 10 team just under an hour into the race.
The No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor V-Series.R GTP continued to challenge on with Delétraz remaining behind the wheel for the first 50-minutes of the race. He demonstrated excellent racecraft to hold onto the front row position throughout his stint, only losing the lead briefly, but managing to make a skillful pass in the iconic Andretti hairpin to take back the lead.
A smooth driver change saw Jordan Taylor take the reins from his teammate taking fresh tires and fuel to continue in the hunt for victory. Running on an undercut strategy as one of the first teams to take a pit stop, Taylor played the long game by carefully managing his tires and energy while the cars ahead went through their pit cycle, eventually making his way up to third position.
With just over an hour to go, Taylor was maintaining pace with the leaders when the field saw a full course yellow that led to the full GTP field pitting under the caution. As the race saw its final hour, the team looked to continue their undercut strategy to pit earliest and were ultimately waiting for an opportunistic yellow that never delivered. The No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor V-Series.R GTP finished the day with in tenth place – a disappointing ending to what was looking to be a strong result for the team.
“It was a discouraging end to a promising weekend with the highlight being the pole by Louis and the No 40 Cadillac WTR team,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Co-Owner, Wayne Taylor Racing. “We have been struggling with pace all year and we have now found it. Going into the race, we felt we could finally go for the win. Unfortunately, the 10 car had their issues on track and then the 40 car got caught out on strategy and went backwards from there. It is unacceptable. I am disappointed for Cadillac and for our partners.”
The Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP’s will be on the hunt for redemption as they take to the third sprint race of the year in Detroit. The on-track action for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix will take place from May 29 – May 30, 2026, featuring a condensed two-day schedule for the 100-minute sprint event.
Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Driver Quotes
Ricky Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “A really hard weekend from the start. It's been a hard year. I feel like we've shown pace at times, but this weekend was just hard from the very beginning.?So I think, you know, we'll forget it quickly. This one will be one we'll forget. And Detroit, we have a little unfinished business from last year. We were fast, and we've had good results there. We have two podiums in a row. It’s the home race for Cadillac, and I think that'll be a great way to rebound for the season.”?
Filipe Albuquerque, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Well, I think when one thing goes wrong, the rest is easy to go wrong as well. We started on a back foot, not good feeling with the car balance. We tried to fight back. We still did well in practice, but already behind and then qualifying was hard. Then the race starts, it was not that bad, but that the two cars in front of me crash, took me to the gravel. We kept going, and then just passing a GT, he crashed into me when I was completely side by side. The contact, wheel-to-wheel, was just enough to bend my rear suspension, bent the car and caused a rear puncture. So, nothing goes right this weekend. We just need to forget to eliminate this weekend and move on to Detroit.”
Jordan Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Quite a frustrating day. We just were on the back foot all day after that first pit stop. The one positive we can take away from this weekend is that we had a fast car. We will focus on Detroit.”
Louis Delétraz, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Thank you to Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing. We were very strong pace this weekend, throughout both practices and then taking the pole. The race was extremely disappointing finishing 10th. It's definitely not what we came for. I think we have a lot to look at and work for the next time to be better. We want to be better.”
