2026 GTP Laguna Seca Pre Race Report

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing will continue their stretch of West Coast racing as they head to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the StubHub Monterey SportsCar Championship. With a short turnaround of less than two weeks from Long Beach to Laguna Seca, the pair of Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP teams are poised to kickstart a reset of positive results in the first two-hour, 40-minute sprint race of 2026.

Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque in the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP are no strangers to success at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Taylor holds the most pole positions in the participating field with four, tied alongside his brother Jordan. Most recently winning at Laguna Seca in 2022, Taylor and Albuquerque are keen to capitalize on their recent showing of pace mixed with past success to earn their way back to the top step come Sunday afternoon.

In the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP, Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz both have one win each at the 2.238-mile road course but have not won together as a pairing. Jordan Taylor, four-time polesitter, last won at Laguna Seca back in 2013 while Delétraz collected an LMP2 class victory back in 2022. After a rollercoaster of results to start the season, the No. 40 Cadillac WTR team is ready to contest for their first podium of the year.

“Laguna Seca is one of my favorite events and the team has done well here (four wins),” said Wayne Taylor, Team Co-Owner. “Though the results aren’t currently showing it, we have made great strides in learning and improving the car. We have felt very strongly going into the past few races that we had a car worthy of the podium, only to have bad luck strike. We are ready to turn that around at Laguna Seca.”

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing GTP teams open the weekend with Practice on Friday, May 1, at 6:20 p.m. ET (3:20 p.m. PT). Qualifying to set the field will take place on Saturday. May 2, at 6:55 p.m. ET (3:55 p.m. PT). The StubHub Monterey SportsCar Championship sprint will see the green flag fly at 4:10 p.m. ET (1:10 p.m. PT) on Sunday, May 3, with the broadcast available on NBC Sports Network and Peacock.

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Driver Quotes

Ricky Taylor, three-time Laguna Seca winner and full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “We are doing our normal process to prepare for Laguna – the sim, data, some prep calls, all of it helps to get in the mindset for what we will face come race weekend. Previous experience always helps us make sure we don’t make the same mistakes twice. It is hard to believe we only have two normal sprint races left on the calendar these days. But I really enjoy the traditional 2:40 length races where it is a real mix of risk and strategy with enough time for the race to develop and evolve. We are just taking it one race at a time, it’s been a hard start to the season, but any race can be the kickstart to the momentum we need.”

Filipe Albuquerque, two-time Laguna Seca winner and full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “I love that Laguna Seca is just around the corner. It’s a very nice track. I have good memories there with pole positions and wins there with Ricky Taylor. We want to go back to that as soon as possible. We are working in the simulator to learn what happened at Long Beach and how we can go forward. I’m ready to go and nothing better than a close race after a not-so-great race weekend. I can’t wait to go to Laguna.”

Jordan Taylor, four-time polesitter at Laguna Seca and full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Laguna Seca is our first true road course of the year. We’ve spent a few days in the simulator leading up to the event to try get some new items dialed in for the race. We have had a rough start to the year but feel like we have had a car that can contend for podiums, so hopefully we can have some luck go our way and have a good weekend in Laguna.”

Louis Delétraz, 2022 LMP2 class winner at Laguna Seca and full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Laguna Seca is always a highlight on the calendar because it’s such a technical and unique track. We didn’t have the opportunity to test there, so we’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator, going through last year’s data and onboard footage to make sure we’re as prepared as possible when we hit the track. The start of the season hasn’t been easy; we’ve shown strong pace but have been unlucky in the last two races. Laguna marks the first traditional sprint event of the year, and Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing has been very successful there in the past. We’re well prepared, focused on ourselves, and confident that the results will come back our way.”
