The Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) Lamborghini Super Trofeo (LST) team returned to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for Round 2 of the 2026 North America Championship The team’s four driver pairings secured one overall win, two PRO|AM class wins, and one PRO class podium at the historic California event.
In the pack for the competitive PRO class, Hampus Ericsson and Nick Persing returned to Laguna Seca for their first time as a driver pairing in the No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Huracán ST. Last year, Persing secured a weekend sweep at this circuit, and returned looking to repeat that effort. The weekend started off strong with a qualifying performance that secured a third and second place start for Race 1 and Race 2 respectively. In Race 1, Ericsson began the race maintaining their position through the duration of the stint with a yellow flag preventing his ability to move forward in the pack. A smooth driver change to Persing carried them through to the checkered flag with a spot on the top step of the podium. For Race 2, Persing started off behind the wheel when the field quickly saw a yellow in the opening lap. On the restart, Persing unfortunately fell back in the LST pack after making contact at Turn 2. Determined to gain back position, Persing ultimately passed three of his PRO class competitors before handing it over to his co-driver. Ericsson took to the wheel with about 20-minutes to go and ultimately managed to work his way through the field to secure them a fourth-place finish.
Al Morey IV and James Wallis made their debut as a pairing in the PRO class with a solid qualifying effort, placing them fifth and eighth on the grid for Race 1 and 2 respectively. Morey IV took to the field first for the 50-minute race in the No. 7 WTR Lamborghini Huracán ST. Wallis then took over for the duration of the race, where he ultimately secured sixth place in his first race around the California circuit. In Race 2, Wallis started off in eighth place and managed to make his way through the pack rather quickly, showing impressive racecraft to make his way forward on the two restarts during his stint. The British driver worked his way up to first place in class before handing it over to Morey IV with less than 20-minutes to spare. Ultimately, a swift driver change to Morey IV and strong execution on track allowed Morey IV to bring home a third-place finish for the pair and their first podium as a driver pairing.
In the No. 10 DEX Lamborghini Huracán ST, Graham Doyle and Danny Formal returned to Laguna Seca as a PRO|AM pairing after a dominant showing in Sebring where they saw the top of the podium steps for both races. The duo ran a flawless first race with Formal securing the fastest lap during his stint, before Doyle took over securing a PRO|AM win after starting second on the grid. Starting Race 2 from third on the grid, Doyle showed excellent racecraft amidst the field of competitors before handing it off to Formal in eighth position overall. With less than 20-minutes to go Formal took to the track with precision, working his way up to second overall, delivering the fastest lap of the race and claiming first place in the PRO|AM class. This marks the pair’s fourth win in as many races as the 2026 season heats up.
Paul Nemschoff and Marc Miller return to Laguna, a track where they have shown their strength as a duo with their previous podium success. Nemschoff and Miller secured themselves an eighth-place PRO|AM class start and first place overall start for Race 1 and Race 2, respectively. Nemschoff started the No. 41 Metro Sound Pros Lamborghini Huracán ST in Race 1, where he demonstrated clean racecraft, but an unfortunate series of yellows limited his ability to challenge forward. Miller took over for his stint with just under 30-minutes to go, ultimately managing to claim a second-place finish for the pair marking their first podium with WTR. In Race 2, Miller started at the front of the pack overall and maintained his position throughout his stint. Nemschoff took over with a little under 15-minutes to go, when an unfortunate issue with the rear end caused him to move towards the back of the pack, ultimately claiming an eighth-place finish.
The next stop for the Wayne Taylor Racing LSTNA stable of drivers will be Watkins Glen International for their third round of competition on June 25 – 28, 2026.
Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Driver Quotes
Hampus Ericsson, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO) – "We had a great weekend at Round 2 in Laguna Seca. I feel like Nick and I had a great car all weekend, Wayne Taylor Racing gave us a phenomenal setup. Starting third in both races wasn't ideal, but we hustled our way forward, especially in Race 1 where we took home the victory. In Race 2, Nick had a great start but contact in Turn 2 unfortunately dropped us to the back. We rose, showed our pace, and came back to fourth in class which was amazing - good points for the championship as well. I'm very happy with the weekend, and it's something to build on for Watkins Glen.”
Nick Persing, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO) – “To be honest, I think it was a great weekend overall. We managed to win Race 1. I went three for four at Laguna Seca over the past two years in race wins, so I'm happy about that. It was an unfortunate racing incident for us at the start of Race 2, but we recovered to P4. If my math is correct, we should be really close, if not leading in the championship right now. I'm happy to walk away from the weekend with that. I can't complain, taking home a win in Race 1 for my friends and family that are here. Big thank you to Hauserman Rental Group, Enjoy Tahoe.com and OPI Commercial Builders. Big thanks to the Wayne Taylor Racing team for putting it together. It was just a great event overall, great car, and looking forward to the next one.”
Al Morey IV, No. 7 WTR Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO) – "Super exciting here, this is my favorite track, and the team did a fantastic job getting the car together. I had a good first stint and just brought it home. I think having the No. 7 on the podium here is fantastic, so thank you to everyone on the team."
James Wallis, No. 7 WTR Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO) – “It was a really good weekend, obviously not as much testing we could do here in Laguna. But I did enough sim prep, and I seemed to settle into it quite well. I mean, I think there was more in qualifying, maybe top three, but I think in the races, we proved that we had more pace in qualifying. We finished with the P3 in Race 2, so hopefully we can carry this momentum on to the next round. “
Graham Doyle, No. 10 DEX Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO|AM) – "Pretty much a perfect weekend on our end. Once again, Danny Formal proves why he's the best at these things. He was able to get us P2 overall in the second race, and gave me a great car yesterday, so I couldn't be happier. That's four wins for the season in four races, so you can't really do much better than that."
Danny Formal, No. 10 DEX Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO|AM) – “Wayne Taylor Racing gave us a rocket ship, and we were able to go from twelfth [overall] - Graham handed over the car in eight [overall] - and we were able to get up to second overall, first in class, and got fastest lap again. Just a phenomenal job by the team and Graham in really tricky conditions. He did a fantastic job and gained some positions. Ultimately four for four, so I'm super proud of Graham and the team.”
Paul Nemschoff, No. 41 Metro Sound Pros Lamborghini Huracán ST (PRO|AM) – “Overall weekend of high highs and arguably low lows. Our 41 MSP Super Trofeo started the weekend well, and Marc and I arguably had our best qualifying as a team - maybe in the four years that we've been together. Mark was P1 overall for Race 2.?I was seventh in class, 19th overall in Race 1. We were primed for success. Race 1 went quite well. We were able to hold position at the start, had a clean driver change and Mark got in the car. He was able to advance a bit as expected and ultimately ended up with P2 and on the podium, which was great for the season. It's our first one this year. I was hoping it would create a little bit more momentum for Race 2. Mark did a really good job from pole. I mean, he's one of the best drivers in the series, which is why I enjoy partnering with him. After I got in, at Turn 9, the rear end got loose, unexpectedly. It's unfortunate, it happens. I should have caught it, maybe, and went off track, got back on track and then had a serious vibration afterwards. We just fell backwards as a result. So, I go back to where I began. It's a week of high highs. It's a weekend of low lows. We will pick up, we'll move on. We'll be in great shape for Watkins Glen.”
