2026 Le Mans Pre Race Report

The Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing team is prepared to challenge for their second consecutive year in the No. 101 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R Hypercar in the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans. As part of the three-car Cadillac Racing lineup in the 18-car Hypercar field, Ricky Taylor, Jordan Taylor, and Filipe Albuquerque are all eager to tackle the historic European event and build on their experience from their 2025 running at Le Mans. Returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside Cadillac Racing and JOTA Sport continues to be a full circle moment for Team Co-Owner, Wayne Taylor, who previously competed at the iconic 24-hour European competition back in the early 2000s under the manufacturer’s banner.

For their second attempt at Le Mans after their debut year as co-drivers, the Cadillac WTR drivers are determined to apply their experience and learnings from last year as they prepare to take on the historic European endurance event. Both Ricky and Jordan Taylor will take on their second attempt in the competitive Hypercar category. Ricky Taylor’s experience at Le Mans also includes multiple years competing in the LMP2 category, with two top 15 class finishes. Jordan Taylor will enter his 11th year at Le Mans, having competed nearly all years under the banner of a General Motors brand, and holds a LM GTE Pro Class Win from 2015. Filipe Albuquerque, who will be competing for his 13th time and his third year in the overall prototype category, holds a LMP2 Class Win from 2020.

Before the race weekend kicks off, the No. 101 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R Hypercar participated in last Sunday’s two test sessions that allowed the trio of WTR drivers and team to reacquaint themselves with the Circuit de la Sarthe. Across the two test sessions, the No. 101 posted a best lap time of 03:27.011 around the 13.626-kilometer (8.467-mile) circuit, which happened to be the fastest lap in the first test session.

“Last year was the first time WTR entered Le Mans as a team,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Co-Owner, Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR). “It really and truly was a learning year and, you know, we got through it, but it was, it was a steep learning curve. What's really great about this year is that so far, everything I've heard from the drivers, engineers and team is that everything is working really well. Being first at the end of the first practice session helps - those kinds of things really keep everybody upbeat. Cadillac and JOTA have been fantastic and have helped us through all of this. We don't do anything without all three of us knowing what's going on. Clearly, our cars seem to be competitive. Going into the race, I think there's a good feeling of confidence. Our speed has been pretty good, and the drivers are really comfortable with the car, which as you know, is 90% of it. Our guys are executing and the team is just doing a fantastic job. Now, we're just getting everything rebuilt and ready for Wednesday and Thursday, which is qualifying day and night, and, after that we'll probably have a much better feeling of where we stand for the race.”

The No. 101 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R team will have four free practice sessions around Circuit de la Sarthe between Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11, before the 24-hour event kicks off. The 2026 Le Mans competition will see the unique Hyperpole setup beginning with two distinct qualifying sessions separating the Hypercars from the LMP2s and LMGT3s for each progression of qualifying to set the race day grid. The top 15 fastest lap times from Wednesday’s qualifying practice will advance to participate in the first Hyperpole session on Thursday, June 11. The top 10 fastest lap times from the first 20-minute Hyperpole session will move on to compete for the Hyperpole award in a final 15-minute session.

The 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans will begin at 10 a.m. EST (4 p.m. Central European Summer Time) on Saturday, June 13, with live timing coverage available on the FIA WEC app and the Cadillac Racing YouTube channel.

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Driver Quotes

Ricky Taylor, co-driver, No. 101 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “I don't think we knew how much experience we lacked last year coming in this year. We feel much more prepared this year, and everything's a lot more calm and under control than last year. It feels more like another race weekend where we can just focus on performance. When you look at the event calendar, it looks stretched out and that we're here for a week and a half, but everything goes pretty quickly. The test day was pretty busy and important, so we've put a lot of focus on maximizing that day. Then the days off are full of engineering meetings, interviews with the media, and catching up with everybody to make sure we all are on the same page for race week, because once Wednesday gets here, it's already qualifying, and then basically right into the race for 24 hours.”

“Different to Daytona, there aren't so many safety cars and yellows, so you do have to really protect your track position and make sure you're in touch with the leaders. But, in the end, I think it's like any other endurance race. It's about keeping things clean and not taking too many risks early. We want to make sure you have a strong and consistent car at the end.”

Jordan Taylor, co-driver, No. 101 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “I think right away 2026 felt just so much different. Everyone is just way more confident and comfortable coming here. Last year, no one knew even where the bathrooms were. So just having the basics down gives you a little bit more comfort. I think this has been a year of understanding, knowing now what this track requires and what this race requires, the team was able to prepare a lot better than last year. I think we all have a lot more confidence coming here in year two. I think between the test and the race week, obviously there's a lot of data to go through from what we learned in the test, so a lot of data analysis, a lot of going through video, a lot of media stuff still, and a lot of meetings. Then finally on Wednesday, we get back on track for practice and straight into qualifying. It feels like it's a lot of time, but it usually goes pretty quickly.”

“I think it's a little bit different style race to Daytona. Obviously, at Daytona, you have a lot more full course yellows and safety cars to kind of bring everything together. At Le Mans, usually you have a little bit less time under safety car, and in those such situations, you need to kind of be pushing and minimizing mistakes on track and in the pits. It's a lot about execution and staying out of trouble at this race.”

Filipe Albuquerque, co-driver, No. 101 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “2026, from my side, is pretty much the same because it’s my 13th Le Mans. I think with the Hypercar, it's a bit different, obviously, more natural. I still remember very well my feeling when I did my last laps in a race last year. And the first laps during our test was exactly that, just picking up from there. So, driving the car more, it helps. The car felt better. We have a new joker this year, so it's different in some corners. Everything just feels more natural.”

“We don't have time enough to explain what we are going through! Especially with these cars, it's complex and the Cadillac effort as well. Everybody's very, very busy from the engineers to the drivers to the marketing people. Everybody's busy with photos, interviews, meetings, and eventually driving. When it gets to this point, I just can't wait to have like the nighttime and be driving the car in the dark, with no one around. Then it is about the driver, the car and his engineer. Doing those triple stints in the night, that's the feeling that I like a lot: the quiet. (About surviving a 24-hour race) Obviously, staying out of trouble, especially here. There are yellows, and there are gentlemen drivers going around on cold tires, so it's about avoiding them and not being caught on punctures or not being caught on any issues on the car. Something like a simple antenna not transmitting GPS can lead you to bring the car into the garage and lose a lot of time and cost you a good result. So, it's about that. And many times, it's not. I've been racing here with the great cars to go for the win and suddenly, be out of the race, literally on the 1st corner. There is a nice quote about Le Mans that I say in my head often: ‘You do not choose Le Mans; Le Mans chooses you.’ I like that.”
