Date: Sept. 18, 2015
Event: Lone Star Le Mans (Round 9 of 10)
Series: Prototype division of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship
Location: Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas (3.4-mile, 20-turn road course)
Pole Winner: Scott Pruett of Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (1:58.441 at 103.343 mph)
Wayne Taylor Racing: 4th by Jordan Taylor (1:59.033 at 102.829 mph)
The No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP for Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) will start Saturday’s Lone Star Le Mans from the outside of the second row after TUDOR United SportsCar Championship qualifying Friday at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Jordan Taylor, who has co-driven to a pair of victories already this season with his brother Ricky Taylor, clocked a fast lap Friday of 1 minute, 59.033 seconds at 102.829 mph on the 3.4-mile, 20-turn road course that is the current home of the United State Formula 1 Grand Prix. It was good for fourth among 38 car-and-driver combinations that will take the green flag for Saturday’s two-hour, 40-minute race.
“I think it was a decent qualifying session. I mean, the best I think we could’ve been was third,” said Jordan Taylor, who won the pole at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California in his only other qualifying attempt this season. “Fourth isn’t terrible. I didn’t love the car for qualifying, but I think the balance we had for qualifying is promising for what we’ll need for the race. It felt like a more consistent car than a car for a fast lap time. For what it was, it was decent. The race is two hours and 40 minutes, so starting fourth isn’t a big deal. A lot is going to happen. We’ll have a few pit stops, and I’m sure strategy will be a big part of the game. It’s going to be really warm tomorrow, probably our hottest race of the year. That, with a pretty physical track, will make for a long race. We’ll try and hydrate as much as possible tonight and try and stay as cool as possible tomorrow.”
The top-five qualifiers for Saturday’s Lone Star Le Mans at Circuit of the Americas are:
1. Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (No. 01 Ford Riley) with Scott Pruett and Joey Hand (1:58.441 at 103.343 mph)
2. Michael Shank Racing (No. 60 Honda HPD Ligier JS P2) with Oswaldo Negri and John Pew (1:58.512 at 103.281 mph)

4. Wayne Taylor Racing (No. 10 Corvette DP) with Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor (1:59.033 at 102.829 mph)
5. Action Express Racing (No. 31 Corvette DP) with Eric Curran and Dane Cameron (2:00.011 at 101.991 mph)
Race time is 12:35 p.m. EDT Saturday with FOX Sports 2 providing the live TV broadcast beginning at 12:30 p.m. The race will be rebroadcast in its entirety by FOX Sports 1 at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Live timing and scoring during all on-track sessions is available at IMSA.com and the IMSA smartphone app.
