The No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP for Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) will start Sunday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase from the outside of the second row after TUDOR United SportsCar Championship qualifying Saturday at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Ricky Taylor, who co-drove with his brother Jordan Taylor to their second victory of the season last month at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario after becoming the series’ first multiple pole winner of 2015, clocked a fast lap Saturday of 1 minute, 57.437 seconds at 124.090 mph on the 4-mile, 14-turn road course. It was good for fourth among 33 car-and-driver combinations that will take the green flag for Sunday’s two-hour, 40-minute race.
“We’ve been chasing this tire change a little bit this weekend,” said Taylor, who has a best career finish of third at Road America when he co-drove here with Max Angelelli in 2011. “IMSA changed the spec tire and it seems to have affected our car balance a little bit. We made some big changes before qualifying and got a little bit closer, but we’ve still got some room to improve.”
