2020 LST VIR Pre Race Report

Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing will compete at VIRginia International Raceway this weekend for the third and fourth round of the 2020 North America Lamborghini Super Trofeo season. Six drivers competing in all four classes (PRO, PRO|AM, AM, LB CUP) will race around the 17-turn, 3.27-mile permanent road course in Alton, Virginia.

The seven-time championship winning team is coming off a strong start to the season at Road America, where the Wayne Taylor Racing stable scored one pole position and three podium finishes at the historic venue.

Veteran sportscar driver Stevan McAleer will split his time this weekend, racing in the IMSA Michelin Prototype Challenge, while also sharing the No. 1 Prestige Performance WTR Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo in the PRO class with Stuart Middleton.

After earning two podium finishes at Road America, Ashton Harrison and Andrea Amici hope to continue their momentum in the No. 25 Harrison Contracting Lamborghini ST in the PRO|AM class.

In the AM class, Lance Willsey joins the Wayne Taylor Racing team at the helm of the No. 53 Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Willsey will also be doing double duty this weekend competing in the IMSA Michelin Prototype Challenge in the No. 33 Ligier JS P3.

Sydney McKee, who secured a podium finish at Road America, will look to gain even more experience in the LB Cup category as the sole driver of her No. 87 FaDa Racing Lamborghini.

Practice for the second weekend of the 2020 North America Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship at VIR begins 10:20 a.m. ET Friday. Green flag for Race 1 will wave on Saturday, August 22nd at 11:50 a.m. ET, with live broadcast coverage on IMSA.com/tvlive.

Stevan McAleer, No. 1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (PRO)
“I’m really excited about VIR. It’s one of my favorite tracks and I’ve always had good success here. We had some troubles at Road America, so we are looking to redeem ourselves and get on that podium”

Stuart Middleton, No. 1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Super Trofeo (PRO)
“I’m really looking forward to the race weekend at VIR and getting back behind the wheel of the No. 1 Prestige Performance car. The circuit looks pretty technical which is something that really suits me as a driver, so I can’t wait to push and find the limits of another new track. I had a really great time meeting an working with everyone on the team last race weekend at Road America, I feel like I fitted straight into the team and was really welcomed. I know we’re capable of achieving great results and I think this weekend coming up at Virginia will hopefully showcase that.

Ashton Harrison, No. 25 Harrison Contracting Lamborghini Super Trofeo (PRO|AM)
“I’m very much looking forward to VIR next weekend as we have a quick turnaround from Road America and have things fresh on our mind and things we want to work on. I’m bummed that there won’t be any fans at this event, but I’m looking forward to putting on a good show as Andrea and I have the speed and capabilities to have great success at VIR and all the following races. I’m excited to be back with my team and looking forward to the rest of the year as it was great getting back in the car and being back with Wayne Taylor Racing and our Harrison Contracting Lamborghini.”

Andrea Amici, No. 25 Harrison Contracting Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (PRO|AM)
“We finished both races on podium in Road America and that was a positive result for sure. For VIR, we are working to fix some things that didn’t work so well in the first race weekend of the season. We really want to be on top of the podium this week at VIR.”

Lance Willsey, No. 53 WTR Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (AM)
“I would like to thank everyone at Wayne Taylor Racing as well as Chris Ward at Lamborghini for this opportunity. VIR is an epic North American motorsports facility that presents a unique set of challenges in the August heat and dynamic weather conditions.”

Sydney McKee, No 87 FaDa Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (LB Cup)
“I was thrilled when VIR was added back to our schedule. VIR became one of my favorite tracks when I first drove it in 2018 and I can't wait to get back there. We learned a ton at Road America, and I am super excited to take that knowledge and apply it next weekend. As I get more comfortable in the car and learn more about my competitors on track, I can't wait to see what the rest of this season holds.”
