In a storm-delayed qualifying session at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 squad qualified in second position with a time of 1:10.661 at 115.039 mph. The result puts the team into the lead of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship by a margin of two points.

Filipe Albuquerque was able to utilize his knowledge of the Midwest road course to navigate changing conditions and ensure that the blue and black Konica Minolta team will start ahead of their closest championship rivals for tomorrow’s Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio—a “hometown” race for Acura and Honda Performance Development.

Albuquerque will start tomorrow’s race before handing the wheel to teammate and co-driver Ricky Taylor.

“It’s a second position, but I’m happy with the lap,” said Filipe Albuquerque. “I think we did a very good job from Practice 1 through Qualifying to improve the car. Sometimes we have to tip our hat to the competition because they were better. I couldn’t have done that lap time. Congratulations to Bourdais and the guys. It’s a long race and we’re going to rely on our crew for great pit stops, great strategy, and we’ll put the rocket guy, Ricky Taylor, in at the end to get us the win.”

Green flag for the two-hour and 40-minute Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio waves at 2:10 p.m. ET tomorrow, Sunday, May 15th. Tune in to full coverage streaming on Peacock and live TV coverage on USA Network beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET.
