The No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 GTP team heads back to California, this time to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the Motul Course de Monterey Powered by Hyundai N. The 2.238-mile purpose-built road course served as the site of the team’s first victory in the 2022 season, and Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport (WTRAndretti) look to repeat that success again this weekend.

Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque head to the second sprint race of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule ready to capitalize on the team’s past success, including the pair’s back-to-back wins from pole positions in 2021 and 2022.

“Coming off of two disappointing results, it’s time for us to start executing,” said Ricky Taylor. “Laguna Seca has been a great track for us in the past and our Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 has been the car to beat this season. Laguna Seca will be the race for us to set the tone for the rest of the season. Filipe, the WTRAndretti team, and I are very motivated to get back to form.”

“We won the last two years at Laguna, so it is a track that we have good memories from,” said Filipe Albuquerque. “We want to have the hat trick. We have been competitive, but unfortunately things haven’t been coming our way in the last 15 minutes of the races this season. We will keep doing the same and now just be more aware of the last 10-15 minutes of the race, and I’m pretty sure the result will be good. Nevertheless, it’s important now to be looking at the championship for the results and points. Motivation is super high. We’re enjoying working together as a group and that’s our strength.”

“Going into Laguna Seca, we’re 20 points behind the championship lead. It’s not that bad given how the points work,” said Wayne Taylor. “We’ve had two races of potentially winning, but unfortunately due to incidents that happened, we scored very low points, but definitely proved that we have the car to beat. Laguna Seca has always been good for us and we’re really looking forward to this event. Clearly, we have to go into a race mode now, and not get caught out at the very end of both races. I’m very proud of the drivers, the team, and all of our partners with Andretti Autosport, Konica Minolta, Harrison Contracting, as well as HPD and the amount of effort HPD and Acura are putting into this program. We feel confident that we should have a good race.”

Practice for the Motul Course de Monterey Powered by Hyundai N begins at 4:05 p.m. PT on Friday, May 12 and qualifying will take place at 12:55 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 13. The field will take the green flag on Sunday, May 14 at 12:10 p.m. PT and coverage of the 120-minute sprint race will be broadcast live on NBC.
