2024 LST Round One At Sebring Pre Race Report

Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti (WTRAndretti) returns to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo (LST) North America grid with a stout stable of five entries for the 2024 championship opener at Sebring International Raceway. With five entries, WTRAndretti will compete in all four classes that compete in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series.

Two drivers familiar with success in the PRO Class of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo field will team up for the first time as co-driver pairing: Ryan Norman and Danny Formal. Norman and Formal may be a new driver pair, but the two are ready to hit the ground running with momentum from 2023’s season where Formal is the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO Champion and Norman the PRO Class Vice-Champion in 2023. Norman and Formal will represent the WTRAndretti team banner in the PRO Class of the 2024 LST North America Championship behind the wheel of the No. 1 WTRAndretti Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo. In continuation of driver development, Formal will undertake double duty at Sebring as full season co-driver in the No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 for the Twelve Hours of Sebring in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.

Returning to the WTRAndretti stable, Nate Stacy and Nick Persing will compete for a second season in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO|AM Class. In 2023, the pairing of Stacy and Persing captured two class wins, two pole positions and five podiums in the PRO|AM category despite missing two events. Stacy and Persing are ready to get on track and get their 2024 LST North America Championship PRO|AM campaign started in the No. 8 WTRAndretti Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo.

2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America AM Champions, Anthony McIntosh and Glenn McGee, join the WTRAndretti stable in hopes of securing back-to-back titles in the AM class in their new No. 69 Global Power Components Huracán LST. McIntosh and McGee earned LST AM Class Championship honors in 2023 with five victories, an additional five class podiums and five AM Class pole positions. The pair also earned World Finals accolades after winning overall in an LST World Finals Am Class race in Vallelunga, Italy in 2023.

Stepping up classes for the 2024 LST North America Championship, Graham Doyle will enter the AM Class in the No. 10 DEX Imaging WTRAndretti Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo. 2023 marked Doyle’s first season of his motorsports career and the rookie quickly got up to speed contending for wins right off the bat. Doyle continues preparations both on track with testing as well as preparing on his simulator. Alongside Formal, Doyle will complete his first dual driving role at Sebring as the 17-year-old will serve as the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup co-driver with Formal and Kyle Marcelli in the No. 45 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 for the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Joining WTRAndretti’s championship-caliber LST team, Naveen Rao, will pilot the No. 32 WTRAndretti Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo in the LB Cup category for the doubleheader season opener at Sebring International Raceway. Rao’s racing resume includes racing in the LMP2 and LMP3 categories in IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and in Europe as well as the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli 458 series which he earned Vice Champion honors in 2017.

Action for the WTRAndretti LST stable will begin at 10:25 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 13 with a qualifying session at 11:55 a.m. ET on Thursday. March 14 to set the field for both races. Lamborghini Super Trofeo Race 1 will see the green flag for the first 50-minute race of the weekend at 5:50 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 14 while LST Race 2 will be at 6:05 p.m. ET on Friday, March 15. Peacock will serve host to both broadcasts for the 2024 LST season opener doubleheader.

Ryan Norman, No. 1 WTRAndretti LST (PRO): “We had an amazing test this last weekend at Sebring, and it was great to get back into the car! We had really good pace in race and qualifying simulations and I’m very confident that we will be fighting for the top spot of the podium in both races. I’m very thankful for all the hard work by everyone at WTRAndretti leading up to the first race weekend and I can’t wait to finally get the season started.”

Danny Formal, No. 1 WTRAndretti LST(PRO): “Well, and incredible test in our Lamborghini Super Trofeo cars. Everyone had great pace. We went through a nice testing program. We're top car in PRO most of the day on Saturday and top car most of the day on Sunday so super excited for that. Super excited for our other Lamborghini Super Trofeo drivers Graham Doyle, Glenn and Anthony in car No. 69, Nick and Nate in car No. 8 and obviously car No. 1 - we are all very fast. The cars are all very good and super excited to get going this week. The test went phenomenal. We did everything we needed to do and now we're ready to go race, so stay tuned and hopefully we can break our winning season of 2023 this 2024.”

Nate Stacy, No. 8 WTRAndretti LST (PRO|AM): “Well that’s pre-season testing complete and, wow, it was a great couple of days! Got the chance to get re-acquainted with our WTRAndretti Lamborghini and man it was good to be back. After finishing up our testing schedule, I think we all have a very solid direction to move in come race week and I’m looking forward to seeing how we will perform. The No. 1 car, the No. 10 car and the No. 69 car all did a great job as well and I think will be strong contenders in their respective classes!”

Nick Persing, No. 8 WTRAndretti LST (PRO|AM): “Super excited to be back in the car this weekend and can’t wait to see what we can do this year. Having not driven the car since the World Finals, testing was extremely helpful to dial back in the ‘racing mindset’ and to make sure my reflexes were up to speed.  I have also never driven this track before, and it drives completely different to my expectations, so it was good to get that experience. Considering it will be the first race of the season it is hard to judge where our pace is, but the expectation is to pick up where we left off and challenge for the win again this weekend.”

Glenn McGee, No. 69 Global Power Components WTRAndretti LST (AM): “Coming from video games, it’s an amazing milestone for my career to now join one of the biggest names in racing, at WTRAndretti. I really enjoy the high-level of professionalism, attention to detail, and desire to win that this team has. I know this chance to work with this top team will hugely accelerate my growth as a driver and a professional, and this is what I look forward to throughout 2024.  My teammate, Anthony McIntosh is fired up and absolutely flying, so I'm excited to see what we can do in Sebring.”

Anthony McIntosh, No. 69 Global Power Components WTRAndretti LST (AM): “I am almost 50 years old and just started racing when Covid started. I want to work with a team that will challenge me and hold me to the same expectations as the fast silvers. I did not come to WTRAndretti to be a fast Bronze Driver, I came to WTRAndretti to be the fastest and most professional driver I can possibly be. I am new to WTRAndretti, so, for myself, testing is a comprehensive way to familiarize oneself with the team. Learning who and how to communicate is essential. Together we accomplished that over the test which allowed an environment for rapid improvement in my driving. We were struggling with the delta on our race computer for most of the test sessions. WTRAndretti was hard at work fixing the solution and as a driver it forced me to go out and just drive to the limit of the tire. In an unexpected way it pushed me to be better. Pushing always to drive the tire limit every lap, every brake zone, every corner. Like being in the eye of a hurricane, one step out of bounds and you’re off the track…gone!”

Graham Doyle, No. 10 DEX Imaging WTRAndretti LST (AM): “Looking back on this past weekend’s test and looking forward to our first race weekend of my second season with Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship, I’m feeling very positive about what we have learned and what we have been able to accomplish. Throughout the weekend, we were able to tweak our car and perfect our setups that will lead to a strong race week ahead. Looking towards the race week, I look to improve on what I learned last year and continue to grow and develop as a driver. Over the past few months and past season working with the team, I have been able to grow both in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series and as part-time driver in GTD, allowing myself  to continue improving on my skillset and progressing the Super Trofeo and as a racecar driver entirely. I believe this is going to be a great season, not only for myself, but my WTRAndretti team as a whole and I can’t wait to get it started.”

Naveen Rao, No. 32 WTRAndretti LST (LB Cup): “I'm excited to be back at Sebring, this time in a Lamborghini Super Trofeo! I took some time off for the last couple of years, so happy to be back in the saddle. I'm sure it's going to be a great season in the championship.I've raced enough to know that the WTRAndretti team matters...a lot. Having a team that's raced at the highest levels sets us up well for success!”
