2025 GTD BATTLE ON THE BRICKS PRE RACE REPORT

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 switch their focus to endurance racing as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship rounds out the year. For these two final endurance events, Danny Formal and Trent Hindman will be joined again by their IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup co-driver, Graham Doyle, to create the driving trio beginning at the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks this weekend.

At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, all three drivers have a single start on the 2.439-mile road course and each all tallying a top ten finish. After a recent test at IMS, the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team are poised to enter the Battle on the Bricks weekend strong. The team won their first sprint race at CTMP earlier this season and now the goal is to earn their first endurance race victory in front of the home crowd.

In weekend where it is the home event for Wayne Taylor Racing, all three GTD drivers will be operating in “double duty” fashion as they compete in their respective Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America doubleheader races (Formal, No. 1 PRO, Hindman; No. 69 PRO|AM; Doyle, No. 10 AM) alongside the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar action.

“I am looking forward to seeing the GTD back on track,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. Amazing amount of work my guys have done after the really scary fire that happened at VIR. They worked day and night to be at our recent Road Atlanta test, almost 24/7, but they just literally ran out of time. Luckily, they also had a test scheduled for Indy. We have had a competitive car the last couple of races, so I am looking forward to this one. As a long-distance race, strategy will come into play. We welcome back Graham Doyle for this event and know how much he loves this track.”

Quick work for the endurance event begins for the No. 45 Lamborghini GTD team on Friday, September 19, at 11:15 a.m. ET with practice. An action-packed Saturday, September 20, includes morning practice at 8:55 a.m. and qualifying later on at 3:15 p.m. ET. The TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks from IMS will see the green flag fly at 11:40 a.m. ET. on Sunday, September 21. Peacock will stream all six hours of racing action with the NBC broadcast beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “At this point, it’s all about ending our year strong. We’ve experienced all the varying emotions this sport could throw at you in a single season, but ending the year with two well-executed races, races that double as the final two major endurance rounds of the year, would really counter a lot of that misfortune. Heading into the Indy 6-Hour, it’s all about quality execution on all fronts. Easier said than done, but if we achieve this, the results we want will come along with it. Traffic management and track position always seem to be key in this event. Indianapolis looks pretty ‘wide open’ on paper, but it gets busy very quickly considering the fact there are 50+ cars on track and that it’s a relatively short road course to begin with. Quality work over the wall on pit lane and a quick car certainly helps with managing traffic, and there’s no doubt the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini WTR crew can deliver there as well.”

“All things considered, we, as a team, are always motivated and disciplined to push harder and achieve more, though there always seems to be a little bit more spring in everyone’s step when it’s genuinely a home race. This, and achieving a race win at IMS, would be a hell of a way to rebound following a tough outing at VIR, and there’s no reason why we can’t pull it off.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “We are back! I’m officially cleared by IMSA to participate at the Indy 6-Hour endurance race. I am so grateful to be back with just a little burnt nose and spirits high. We were having a good race, one of my better stints all season at VIR, so I’m super excited to get back. I’m ready to get back with the guys and girls of our No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 and hopefully get our best result of the endurance championship. This is a great track for Graham, our endurance co-driver, as he has won here multiple times in Super Trofeo and Trent had a fantastic Indianapolis 8-Hour last year. I'm excited to get back with the team and get a great result.”

Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “The Indy 6-Hour is such an important race for us, not only because it’s the second to last event of the season and a big points opportunity, but also because it’s the home race for our WTR team. After a very successful test at Indy, we are looking for pace, strategy, clean execution in the pits, and the ability to manage traffic and tires over six hours to hopefully lead us to the results we are looking for. Having the team’s families and friends at Indianapolis gives us extra motivation, and racing at such an iconic venue makes us even more determined to deliver a strong result.”
