2025 GTD LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX PRE RACE REPORT

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini HuracánGT3 EVO2 team will shift focus and begin pursuit of the full season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as the GTP and GTD fields head to the streets of Long Beach. For the No. 45 team, this marks their sophomore year competing full time in the GTD class and second attempt for glory on the iconic 1.97-mile street circuit. In the No. 45’s debut at Long Beach in 2024, the team tallied an impressive eighth place finish after qualifying in fifth in the year’s shortest race at only 100 minutes in length.

Entering their first season as co-drivers for the full IMSA schedule, Danny Formal and Trent Hindman, will handle the tight 11-turn temporary street course. Formal has one previous start from the No. 45’s 2024 debut on the SoCal circuit while this year will mark the third appearance at Long Beach for Hindman – who’s best finish is a podium in 2021.

“I have a lot of confidence in the pairing of Danny and Trent - both are exceptional drivers and don’t make many mistakes,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “We did well at Long Beach last year. I think we have a better handle on the Lamborghini HuracánGT3 now. The whole No. 45 WTR team is a very motivated group of people and I’m excited to watch and see their success happen.”

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD Wayne Taylor Racing team’s first of two West Coast events begins will a full slate of on-track action around the streets of Long Beach, including two practice sessions and qualifying to end the day at 8:10 p.m. ET (5:10 p.m. PT) on Peacock. The Grand Prix of Long Beach will see the green flag fly at 5:05 p.m. ET (2:05 p.m. PT) with coverage broadcast for all 100 minutes on USA Network.

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “After challenging events between both the Rolex 24 and Sebring 12H, Long Beach provides the perfect opportunity to reset, re-focus, and get back to the front of the field where we belong. The No. 45 DEX WTR team proved to be very quick right from the word “go” at Long Beach last year, and we certainly look forward to taking advantage of the previous knowledge and success. We have two-and-a-half hours of practice time to prepare for an hour-and-forty-minute race: we’ll use every bit of that time to refine our approach to the car, racetrack and work on what is, arguably, the most critical pit stop of the year. Long Beach is such a short, intense race where, just like any other event on our calendar, you can never be overly prepared for the scenarios that may play out on race day. Surprisingly enough, as different as the GTP and GTD categories are, us GTD drivers always find useful bits of insight from the guys on the GTP side of the WTR tent. At the end of the day, their level of experience, especially around a temporary circuit such as Long Beach, helps validate our approach and provide direction on how we can all continually improve performance. As far as I am aware, Wayne Taylor Racing is the only team in the IMSA paddock that is afforded that luxury.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “I’m very excited for my sophomore year at one of the coolest racetracks in the world, Long Beach. We had a great race there last year with great pace in the Lamborghini. The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan EVO2 GT3 is ready to go get redemption from last year. I’m excited to get back with the WTR team after the Twelve Hours of Sebring. This is my first sprint round with Trent, and he has been a fantastic addition to the team and I’m really excited to get the weekend going.”
