As 2025 year end nears, preparations are heating up for Wayne Taylor Racing’s GTD program for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD completed 17 hours of testing time at Daytona International Speedway. The trio of Danny Formal, Trent Hindman and Graham Doyle, split the testing driving duties as they prepare for 2026. The Wayne Taylor Racing team completed 235 laps with their fastest lap time of 01:48.290 on the testing time charts.
The 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will officially begin with the three days of pre-season testing – the Roar Before the Rolex 24 – on January 16th to 18th, 2026, at Daytona International Speedway. Wayne Taylor Racing’s GTD team then will shift focus to the Rolex 24 At Daytona in pursuit for sports car racing glory on January 22nd to 25th, 2026.
Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2:
“Well, 2026 started already here in November in 2025. What off season, right? Overall, it's been a good test. Just getting back into the GTD after driving the Super Trofeo for over 12 days in Italy, it’s definitely an adjustment with the banking and everything. But so far so good. I haven't done many laps this test so far, but the laps I have done, the car feels good.
And the baseline feels great. So excited for 2026 and the Rolex 24 in January.”
Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2:
“I think continuity is a very rare thing in motorsport, especially. So, the fact that it's, um, the same crew, same of group of drivers, same car, just gives us already a strong groundwork to work off of for 2026. So, really, it starts now. Really, this is 2026 in my book, and we're already off to a good, strong start. I think everybody, all the teams here, are on a similar program in terms of running through, running through some concepts, I think, probably otherwise wouldn't try throughout the year, just on the sake of time. So, it's a lot of fun just to drive, get some data collection and see if we find something big that we can apply to later on in the year, especially when we come back here for the Rolex 24. I think we're all we're all on the same page in terms of our desire to get a watch this year. Last year was heartbreaking. This year, it’s time to get it back.”
Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2:
"It’s going very well so far. Happy to be back with the team this year. Happy to be back working with Danny and Trent. I feel like we had a really good group last year and we seemed to improve weekend in, weekend out. So, it's great to keep the core group together. Today's been really strong so far. I think we've made some really great improvements. I felt great in the car. I feel like I've been gaining a lot of speed. I'm already faster than I was last year, which is always a good sign going into it. And just seeing Danny and Trent, they're figuring out a lot of stuff with the car and we're working and finding a lot of positives. So, it's all good on my end.”
