Entering the season finale for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the No. 45 Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team is eager to showcase their performance at the MOTUL Petit Le Mans. Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will host 53 cars for the final race of the season making for an action-packed 10 hours of racing. In 2024, Petit Le Mans was the best finishing result for GTD team’s rookie season with a fourth place.
At the helm of the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 will be the trio of Trent Hindman, Danny Formal and Graham Doyle to tackle the historical endurance event. Formal and Doyle were a part of the team’s best finish at Road Atlanta last season while Hindman’s career highlights two podiums (2018, 2023). With the trio coming off an impressive performance at Indy charging through the field, all three drivers and the WTR GTD team are keen to pick up from where they left off in Indy and in 2024.
As October is known across the globe as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD will dawn pink accents to the chrome livery to continue to raise awareness to find a cure for a disease that affects so many loved ones.
“I am very eager to see the GTD team back on track for Road Atlanta,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “Their performance recently at Indy really showcased how well this team and group of drivers are working together, driving up to podium positions after starting last. Last year, Petit Le Mans was their best result. I have faith that with Danny, Trent and Graham, we will be fighting for the win.”
Continuing their endurance racing action, the WTR GTD team will have a full slate of track activity on Thursday, October 9, featuring two day-time practices and one night session. Friday, October 10, will only see the 19-car GTD field qualify at 3:20 p.m. ET. On Saturday, October 11, the 10-hour action will kick off at 12:10 p.m. ET beginning with NBC coverage from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET. while Peacock will stream continuously through all hours.
Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Taking home a top five finish in any one of the major IMSA endurance races is an accomplishment. Of course, this year, the desire and target are to find ourselves on the podium. Considering the performance of the No. 45 DEX WTR team last year and our last outing at Indianapolis, this goal is certainly achievable. Our team’s performance at Indianapolis was a culmination of months’ worth of hard work and occasionally some hard lessons learned, but we took all of those lessons and executed a great race with a very competitive race car. It’s unfortunate that the run of poor luck continued with a gearbox failure coming into the final hour, but we can absolutely take pride in our performance and ability to fight forward and find ourselves in contention for a race victory. This creates a huge head of steam moving forward to Road Atlanta. It’s insane to me how quickly this year has gone by - we’ve had our highs and certainly some lows to boot, but that’s racing. Obviously, our team’s performance at Daytona was incredible, our recent run at Indianapolis is one to certainly take pride in, but of course the race victory at CTMP really nullifies some of the heartache experienced this year. With all of that said, I am so proud to have been and continue to be a part of the 45 car’s progression throughout the year and very much look forward to what this team can and will accomplish in the future.”
Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Our last race of the 2025 season, what a rollercoaster of a season. Getting our first win, fighting for the win at Daytona. Just a crazy up and down season. Leaving Indy with bad taste in our mouth after being one of the fastest cars - coming from last to second/third for most of the race until a gearbox issue took us out of contention. We are going into Road Atlanta with very high expectations. It was our best race last year. I was able to go from P8 to P5 in the last stint and we had great pace. Our No. 45 Lamborghini was very fast there last year, and our car is so much better this year. The team has done a fantastic job getting the balance of the car, learning the car through two seasons. Everyone at Wayne Taylor Racing has worked extremely hard for this and we are really excited to go to Road Atlanta. Driving this No. 45 around there is magical - such a high-speed commitment racetrack and traffic management is unreal. I'm excited to get the band back together with Graham and Trent and finish the season off strong. Hopefully we can see our car on the top step!"
Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Last year at Road Atlanta we showed how strong the No. 45 GTD can be, and that race gave us a lot of good data and confidence to bring into this year’s Petit Le Mans. The key was really about staying sharp in traffic and managing the car throughout the beginning hours of the race. Coming off the speed we showed at Indy, our expectations are high. We know we have the pace to fight up front, and the team has been on it to make sure we’re ready for the unique challenges of this race. Looking back on the season as a whole, there have been a lot of positives to take away. Learning how to maximize every opportunity and show what this program is capable of. Petit Le Mans is the perfect place to close the year, and our focus is on delivering the kind of result that reflects all the effort that’s gone into 2025.”
