Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, Graham Doyle and the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO of Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) took on the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring from Sebring International Raceway for the second race of the season. Full season co-driver, Hindman, handled the qualifying duties and tallied an 11th-place starting position.
Hindman saw the green flag fly and battled amongst the largely competitive GTD class in his first stint. Under the day’s first caution, Hindman came to pit lane for service while Graham Doyle took over the driving responsibilities. During Doyle’s time in the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini, the endurance co-driver was able to keep the black and red machine on the lead lap as class traffic amongst the prototypes powered through.
Under the field’s third full course caution, Doyle pitted in the open window to give the reins to full season co-driver, Danny Formal. Once behind the wheel, Formal looked to capitalize on his experience of Sebring in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 to challenge for track position. Formal completed a single stint before shifting back to Doyle to finish out his required drive time. Working against the challenges the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini team were dealt; Doyle ran as high as second in the GTD running order before pitting for Hindman to take over.
With just over six hours to go, while Hindman worked to gain track position amongst attrition and class traffic for his second rotation in the car, he was forced to bring the No. 45 to pit lane after experiencing a mechanical issue that then ultimately led to the team taking the car back to the garage. After further diagnosis, the issue unfortunately led to the early retirement of the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GT3. Over the race week, the Wayne Taylor Racing team displayed an incredible effort of teamwork across the crew and drivers, specifically with the work Hindman showcased in finetuning the No. 45 while Formal and Doyle balanced “double duty” with Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America competition. Despite the early ending, the drivers and team embraced the developments in team performance, strategy, and race craft given the weekend’s challenges.
“It's disappointing to end the weekend like this,” said Travis Houge, VP and General Manager, Wayne Taylor Racing. “This Wayne Taylor Racing team and drivers put in?a massive amount of work and effort this weekend to get us to where we were. The?roadblocks?were probably bigger than we've had in a long time. We put our heads down, worked long hours and overcame to the best of our ability. We were on the lead lap throughout the race and always in contention, even given the challenges put on us. I?can't say enough about this?team and these?drivers. We are all very proud of what we’ve accomplished and look forward to Long Beach.”
All sights are set on the first sprint race of the season at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, where full season co-drivers Danny Formal and Trent Hindman will compete on April 18, 2026.
Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “A character-building weekend for sure. We were putting together a really good race there with everyone executing really well - no mistakes, no problems on pit lane or out on the racetrack. Unfortunately, a mechanical problem got us, but I think by doing what we were doing, we were certainly going to punch above our weight today.?Really proud of the Wayne Taylor Racing and DEX team for giving us the opportunity despite some challenges. I just know if we continue executing the way we did in this race, we will be good when the opportunity presents itself."
Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “An unfortunate end to our incredible 12-hour race weekend. The strategy, the drivers - Graham and Trent - did a phenomenal job. Fuel-save strategies and everyone in the pit lane did so well, even with an unfortunate mechanical DNF. It's Sebring - respect the bumps, and the bumps did not respect us. Very proud to be a part of this team, and very grateful for WTR, DEX, and Lamborghini. We'll come back stronger in Long Beach."
Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “I'm super proud of the Wayne Taylor Racing DEX team, and?super proud of Trent especially; he really helped us push forward while Danny and I competed in Super Trofeo throughout the weekend, so I'm super grateful to him for that. I would say we punched above our weight today. The race proved the team can push ahead and fight forward. Unfortunately, our day came to an early close, but that will just make us want to fight harder at the next one."
