Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing continue with the third sprint event of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic. The 100-minute sprint race through the heart of downtown Detroit returns for a second year with the Grand Tour Prototype category highlighting the event. For the Wayne Taylor Racing team, Detroit holds many successful years with five victories in the Motor City – most recently winning in 2024.
Reigning winners of the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic, Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque are eager to defend their 2024 win in the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R GTP. In 2024, with the inaugural downtown street course event, Taylor and Albuquerque ended their winning drought as Taylor mastered a Turn 3 maneuver that placed the No. 10 in the lead to the checkered flag. For Taylor, Detroit proves to be an area of luck for the veteran IMSA driver with four victories on the streets of downtown and the former Belle Isle circuit. While competing together as co-drivers, Albuquerque and Taylor have never finished worse than fourth at Detroit race event.
For Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz in the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP, the pair are ready to capitalize on their experience together on the tight Detroit street course. At the inaugural GTP event in Detroit, the No. 40 finished in the top five. Like his brother, Jordan Taylor, has an impressive five victories when the field previously raced on the streets of Belle Isle Park adjacent to downtown. Nearing the halfway mark in the season, Taylor and Delétraz look to earn their first set of hardware on the podium in the shadows of Cadillac Racing headquarters.
“We won this race last year, so it’s been a good racetrack for us,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “The WTR guys have done a lot of work on the cars so I’m looking forward to it. Detroit is the home of GM and Cadillac so we have to do well, and we will do whatever it takes to try and win the race again.”
A short two-day event for the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic will see the Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing team take on the 1.645-mile street circuit May 30-31, 2025. Friday’s action will consist of two practices before qualifying at 5:15 p.m. ET. Saturday’s Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic is set for the 100-minute showdown sprint event at 3:40 p.m. ET on Peacock.
Ricky Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Detroit is one of the biggest races of the year for us. Racing for Cadillac while racing around the Renaissance Center is so important for the team and for the brand. Hopefully we can repeat last year’s success and also turn the momentum of our year around for the second half of the season.”
Filipe Albuquerque, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Last year we won on the new circuit in Detroit. Obviously, now being a Cadillac driver, it would mean much more for us to win in front of the GM building with the Cadillac V-Series.R. We have been learning more and more about the car, so let’s hope we are competitive. We are going to push for everything. It’s a short race and strategies can happen with short yellows. You cannot be unlucky there because you pay a big price. It’s obviously hard to overtake so we will see how it starts with qualifying. We will be heads down and try to bring a big result for Cadillac.”
Jordan Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “Detroit is one of the most important races of the year for us with it being in General Motors and Cadillacs backyard. We have high expectations for the weekend. I feel like we’ve been learning and making progress every time we are on track with this car, so hopefully we can roll off the truck in a good spot and have a strong weekend at home.”
Louis Delétraz, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R: “I’m excited for Detroit, a street track but also a home race for Cadillac! We’re getting stronger and stronger as a team and I’m hoping we can get a good result. Detroit is bumpy and usually the Cadillac V Series GTP.R deals well with that. Let’s go get some silverware.”
