2025 GTP ROAD AMERICA POST RACE REPORT

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing pushed through a rollercoaster race at Road America as the GTP field capped off their final sprint race of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

In one of the most competitive qualifying sessions of the season, Filipe Albuquerque set the No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R GTP to start seventh on the grid for the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix. Holding the reins of the No. 10 machine at the green flag, Albuquerque took advantage of the restarts and pit strategy calls at the beginning of the race, climbing up to third position by the two-hour to go mark. Jordan Taylor was in control of the No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R GTP for qualifying, putting the car in ninth position to start Sunday’s race. Two early full-course cautions made for an action-packed first quarter of the race and Taylor gained positions on both restarts to run up in fourth. The No. 40 crew made the same pit strategy call as the No. 10, taking the risk of staying out under the cautions.

On the first standard caution, both Cadillac WTR V-Series.R GTPs came to pit lane with the GTP field. Both Cadillac WTR teams chose to do a full-service pit stop, making driver changes as well. Ricky Taylor piloted the No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R GTP as the field went green again and defended around the twists and turns of Road America to stay in third. After gaining track position up to fourth place, Jordan Taylor handed the reins off to co-driver Louis Delétraz for the second portion of the race.

Ricky Taylor entered the last hour with sights set on another podium result but contact with the No. 7 Porsche in Turn 5 caused the No. 10 Cadillac WTR to spin out. Taylor was able to return the car to the track but fell to eighth position. In this final caution, Taylor came to pit lane for the No. 10 crew to service with hopes of making their way up the field. While also pitting under the final caution, Delétraz and the No. 40 took tires and fuel on pit lane, but pit lane traffic saw a shuffled in the running order.

As the field went back to green flag racing, both Taylor and Delétraz worked to fight through the field looking to regain lost position on track. The checkered flag waved with the No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R GTP in eighth and the No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R GTP in ninth. Both teams are seeking to gain more championship points moving forward.

“I can’t take anything away from the team and the drivers for the great job they all did,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “Our pit stops were fantastic. The execution was great. The strategy was great. The race turned when we had the incident with the Porsche because we felt we had a solid podium car. In the last 30-40 minutes, both the No. 10 and No. 40 were running the same lap time as the leaders. It’s been a tough year, but we will regroup and continue to put the maximum effort into winning for Cadillac and for DEX Imaging. I truly cannot say enough about how great the team is working now.”

The pair of Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing  V-Series.R GTPs will hit the track again for the penultimate race of the season in Indianapolis at their home race around Indianapolis Motor Speedway, at the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks on September 19-21, 2025.

Ricky Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R:

“Tough day. Filipe did an amazing job, and everybody made the right calls. The incident with the No. 7 really set us back and it’s a shame. I felt like in that last stint we really had good pace and had we gotten through that last stop with decent track position, I think we could have been fighting for a podium. Just a bit of a missed opportunity today. I feel like we have a bit of unfinished business here in Road America the last two years with pretty good cars. On to Indy. I think pace-wise we’re looking strong, and we’ll go to Indy, our home race, with some good pace and hopefully go for a win.”

Filipe Albuquerque, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R:

“Starting from P7, you never know what’s going to happen but actually the start went really well for me again. Going into Turn 1, I was fighting for P4 and settled for P5. The car was decent, very nice in terms of balance. I had some little issues that made me lose a bit of time but with traffic I came back. Holding on P3 with strategies, it looked good. Ricky went on with P3 and unfortunately with some battling with GTs and then fighting with the Porsche No. 7, it was an unhappy ending for us. Ricky spun and the Porsche got a stop plus 60 (seconds), so it’s just frustrating because I think we had the pace to the BMWs that finished 1-2. I think we just keep learning about the car, bring on Indianapolis and another podium.”

Jordan Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R

“I think we had a decent first half of the race, in the top five part of the time. It just wasn’t there at the end. I think in clean air we were pretty quick. The last two races, we’ll race for the win.”

Louis Delétraz, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R

“Difficult race and obviously not where we want to be. We had to manage some issues on the brakes at the end. We’ll learn and work hard and come back for a podium. A big thank you to the WTR team for their hard work; they were pushing flat out, and to Cadillac for everything.”
