2025 LST AT WATKINS GLEN, ROUND THREE

Wayne Taylor Racing heads to Watkins Glen International for round three of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship with a four-car lineup across the PRO, PRO|AM and AM classes. The team currently leads the LST North America Championship with 117 points.

Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson lead the PRO Drivers’ Championship and head to the Glen off of a streak of strong results in round two. After a pole position start and podium finish at Laguna Seca, the pair are ready to dominate at Watkins Glen International. In 2024, Formal and his previous teammate brought home a victory and second-place finish; meanwhile this will be Ericsson’s debut around the upstate New York road course. Formal will be pulling double duty again this year competing alongside co-driver Ericsson in the No. 1 machine and in the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

In his rookie season in the PRO class category, Nick Persing will go into the Watkins Glen weekend sitting third in the championship standings, only four points behind his teammates Formal and Ericsson. Persing swept the field at Laguna Seca, securing his first PRO pole and converting it into two overall race wins. He shows promise to bring the No. 8 WTR Lamborghini ST to victory lane this weekend.

Drivers of the No. 69 PRO|AM machine, Anthony McIntosh and Brendon Leitch have found their rhythm as teammates with their most recent victory at Laguna Seca. McIntosh and Leitch have been consistent front-runners in each round so far in the LST North America season. Sitting second in the PRO|AM Championship, the duo will no doubt be seeking to shrink the gap to the leaders.

In the AM class, pair Graham Doyle and Glenn McGee continue to impress in the No. 10 WTR Lamborghini. Champions at both Sebring and Laguna Seca, they’ve led nearly every lap in their class and look to continue this streak at Watkins Glen. Doyle will be doubling-up once again this weekend competing in both LST and the No. 45 GTD this weekend.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo doubleheader weekend begins on Thursday, June 19, with practice at 10:45 a.m. ET. Qualifying will take place at 9:15 a.m. ET on Friday, June 20, divided into two 15-minute sessions for each race. Race 1 will go green at 3:00 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon. The second 50-minute race will start at 4:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 21. Both Lamborghini Super Trofeo races will be broadcast on Peacock.

Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Driver Quotes

Danny Formal, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Rounds 5 and 6 of Super Trofeo at Watkins Glen, my favorite track in the world. The Super Trofeos around Watkins Glen are seriously bullets going over 170 mph before the Bus Stop – it’s an incredible feeling. We had a tough one in the No. 1 car in Laguna Seca and the results didn’t really show the pace. I think we need to show what we are made out of. The Wayne Taylor Racing squad did fantastic at Laguna Seca. We’re extremely excited – there’s new tire compound coming out and going to level out the field even more for how tight it already is. I’m super excited to get going and our squad is ready to go.”

Hampus Ericsson, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “We need to be back on top as we’ve showed that we are capable of. Great speed last time out in Laguna and we plan to keep that speed in Watkins, but this time the top step of the podium is definitely where we want to end up. We never stop working hard! Even though you’re fast, it doesn’t mean you’ll come out on top as in motorsport, a lot of things out of our hands and can’t predict the results. Sebring was brilliant, Laguna we were fast but a DNF and 2nd, so we are looking to rebound. I have been doing a lot of simulator work to prepare. It’ll be my first time racing in Watkins Glen, but I’m looking forward to it a lot! I’ve done multiple hours in the sim and studied past races. So hopefully that’ll help me!”

Nick Persing, No. 8 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Heading into Watkins Glen, I haven’t made many changes, just focusing on staying mentally and physically sharp. I’m hoping to carry the momentum from Laguna Seca into this weekend. That race taught me a lot about leading and managing from the front, and I’m looking forward to putting those lessons to use.”

Brendon Leitch, No. 69 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO|AM: “Really looking forward to Watkins Glen. We had such a strong showing at Laguna Seca and I’m excited to build on that momentum with Tony!”

Graham Doyle, No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM: “We’re heading into Watkins Glen with a lot of confidence, especially after our win at Laguna Seca and the lead in the championship. The competition is only getting tighter, so the focus is on staying consistent, and capitalizing on every opportunity in Rounds 5 and 6. Both Glenn and I have been preparing in this down time taking some key learnings from Sebring and Laguna, especially concerning our strategy with a new tire and race pace that will be critical for success at a track like Watkins. I can’t wait to keep the momentum going.”

Glenn McGee, No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM: "Fast cars at a fast track!  Watkins Glen is my favorite track in the USA, so I'm always extra hyped up for it.  I'm also very interested in the new interaction of Hankook tires that we'll have here, which has received a lot of positive feedback. We weren't able to test here, so we'll be slightly on our back-foot with the track and new tires compared to most drivers, but it's not going to matter. Our team and drivers are working so efficiently on developing setups quickly. Graham and I are so focused right now and have been improving as drivers, and we've been sim-training heavily on iRacing.  I feel like this will be a breakout event for us as drivers, and I just want to keep pushing hard from here, and keep developing as drivers with WTR, and put a big stamp on our championship.  I'm so excited!”
