2025 LST MISANO, ROUND 6 POST RACE REPORT

Officially completing the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship season, the Wayne Taylor Racing stable finishes the season with multiple championship titles across Drivers, Team and Dealership Championship categories. In one of the team’s strongest years, the team saw a total of 20 wins across the three classes (10 PRO, 5 PRO|AM, 5 AM) including a “perfect sweep” at Laguna Seca Race 2. Now, the Wayne Taylor Racing team shifts focus to a global perspective in search of collecting World Finals accolades for the final two races of the year.

Newly crowned PRO Drivers’ Champions, Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson completed their final two North America rounds in historic fashion. Starting from pole position for Race 1, Formal knew there was a job to be done and complete the championship challenge and maintained his track position before handing off to Ericsson for the second half. Ericsson and the No. 101 PRO were unstoppable as the Swedish driver drove with a lead of over 12 seconds through the finish line – earning WTR their 100th class win in Lamborghini Super Trofeo. For Race 2, with already earning the title, Ericsson and Formal still had their sights set on doubling up for victories. Looking to gain track positions upon the start of Race 2, Ericsson was putting the pressure on to second place. Ericsson handed over the No. 101 to complete the remainder of the 50-minute race and cruised home to another podium finish to end the North American Championship.

Seeking more wins to add to his resume for 2025 LST season, Nick Persing entered the final rounds at Misano ready to battle, even for a possible Vice Champion honor. Race 1 saw Persing capitalize on track position and was cruising behind his No. 101 teammates, but a flat tire forced the No. 108 to come into pit lane to fix the tire and slid back to sixth to end the day. With a fresh reset for Race 2, Persing started from pole position and was still on the search for one final North America win to end the season. Persing’s second race was smooth sailing, and the driver of the No. 108 led the opening stint of the 50-minute race. After the mandatory pit stop, Persing came out on track in second but with the leader ahead of him receiving a post-race time penalty, Persing claimed the win and led a 1-2 finish for WTR to finish 2025.

With a tight battle down to the last lap, Graham Doyle and Glenn McGee can officially say that they are the 2025 AM Drivers’ Champions following Round 6 in Misano. A pole position to start Race 1 saw McGee poised to be ready to extend their points lead and bring home victory ahead of their challenging AM competitors, but a shortened pit stop in the mandatory window saw the No. 110 team receive a post-race time penalty. Despite the penalty to finish the first race, McGee and Doyle still maintained a one-point lead entering Race 2. The pressure was on for Race 2 and Doyle knew off the bat that he had to contend for track positions in order to maintain their title chance. Running ahead of their championship competition, Doyle was able to hand over the No. 110 to McGee to complete the second stint. McGee was able to navigate traffic on his final stint and gain key track position that led the No. 110 to a podium result and championship honors as the checkered flag flew on the 2025 LST North America season.

“I am so excited for this team,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner, Wayne Taylor Racing. “For the amount of effort that was put into this year by the mechanics, drivers, engineers, it is incredible. It is not easy to win races, and it is even harder to win championships. All these guys are working at the highest level I can’t say enough about the effort that went into this year. I have to say this must be one of most successful teams in the series history and WTR is delighted to have been partners with Lamborghini for so many years. I always say, ‘It is never one single person that wins a race, it is a team.’ I am looking forward to the World Finals. The guys will naturally go into the weekend wanting to win the title, but I hope they will also enjoy themselves. The pressure of the North American Championship is off. They have nothing to lose - just do what they do best, and they will have success.”

“I don't even know where to start,” said Travis Houge, VP|General Manager, Wayne Taylor Racing. “It has been 10 years of running this program and, in that 10 years, the growth that we've had to getting to where we are now, well, it's incredible. It is a testament to what this team is and what his team is capable of. Just in 2025 alone, the success that we've had is incredible. I don't think you can ever look at a race season and say our PRO cars won 10 out of 12 races in the season.  I mean that's a statistic that these guys will be able to talk about for years to come. We won 5 races in AM and 5 races in PROAM and these championships. This is what we do. This is what everybody puts all this time and effort in for. To see it come to fruition, it is incredible. I can’t remember another year when every single car, every single person and every single driver worked so well together for the common goal.  We just want to thank everybody for their support and for allowing us to come and do this. Hopefully we can go into tomorrow and the next day and come out of here with a World Final, but even if we can’t there is no one on this team that can be disappointed. We know we will give it our best.”

To officially cap off 2025, Wayne Taylor Racing will compete alongside all competitors across Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, Europe and Asia, for the World Finals. The World Finals doubleheader action is set for 10:20 a.m. EST (4:20 p.m. GMT+1) on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. EST (2:30 p.m. GMT+1) on Sunday for the PRO and PRO|AM classes. The 50-minute races from Misano will be broadcast live from the Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.

Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Driver Quotes

Danny Formal, No. 1 (101) Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo

“What a season! Very happy. A 1-2 finish for the team. Very proud of Nick, his third win of the season and almost finished second in the Championship. Super proud of this team. 101 wins now! Just want to say thank you to all the engineers and mechanics at Wayne Taylor Racing, and my teammate, Hampus, as well as congrats Graham and Glenn on their AM Championship. Fantastic season all the way around. Now we get ready for the World Finals. We're going to try to bring it home. “

Hampus Ericsson, No. 1 (101) Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo

“My first season in North America, my first season with Wayne Taylor Racing and Danny Formal. It was great. I mean to win the first race this week and then to finish second in the final race of the year with Nick winning was just great. I think it showed our pace and that we've been fast all weekend. So very happy. It has been a privilege to work with the team and to work with Danny. Everyone has been helping me all year – Graham, Glenn, Nick, all the drivers have been working together and helping each other. It's a great, great team. Everyone around the team have been awesome all year long. World Finals is up next. We will do everything we can to bring it home. I know for a fact, we have a great chance in the PRO Class, so we'll see how it happens. It's racing so anything can happen, but we will do our absolute best to bring home the championship.”

Nick Persing, No. 8 (108) Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo

“The final round was an absolutely amazing race from start to finish. I’m so happy I could reward the team with a win. Big thank you to WTR, the car was amazing through both stints, and I just had to hold on to bring it home. It’s great having this renewed confidence heading into the World Finals and hopefully we can bring home some hardware for the team”

Graham Doyle. No 10 (110) Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo

“We are the champions! My first championship and Glenn’s third. Absolutely unbelievable what we have been able to achieve this weekend and throughout the year as a whole. I’m so proud of the entire team for always pushing us to achieve our best and never giving up. Now we head into Worlds ready to fight for another championship. I can’t wait.”

Glenn McGee, No. 10 (110) Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo

“We got it! The 2025 Super Trofeo NA Champions (AM)! My second Championship with WTR. It has another amazing year with WTR. The team gave us the car and crew to dominate the lead most of the year, but a series of bad luck and contact, put the championship down to the wire in Italy. The pressure was much stronger here, but Graham put on an aggressive start to pass our main rival, and defense throughout his stint. It was not an easy scenario, and he managed it perfectly and gave me a great car. Unfortunately, on my stint we were held up by some traffic, but the No. 110 WTR car was mega at the end, and I was able to make a few passes to take second, and the overall championship! This was a team effort and it’s such a great feeling to achieve this result together.”
