2026 GTD - ROAR Before The 24 Pre Event Report

The 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship officially kicks off at Daytona International Speedway.  The Roar Before the Rolex 24 and Rolex 24 at Daytona marks the third season of No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 team competing in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class.

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 returns on track following a break-through year for the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team as they collected their first class victory at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. The driver lineup featuring returning teammates Trent Hindman, Danny Formal, and Graham Doyle, is completed with the addition of 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner, Marcus Ericsson, marking his third entry at the Rolex 24 and his first time competing in the GTD category. After their 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona was cut short with an hour remaining, it’s all about redemption entering this year’s endurance classic for the No. 45 team.

For 2026, the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini will dawn a new look featuring a sporty and bold black and red livery, with silver accents, that is sure to pop on track.

“Finally, we’re heading back to Daytona - my favorite race – to start 2026,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Co-Owner. “We have a great driver lineup for the No. 45 DEX GTD with Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, Graham Doyle, and this year for the Rolex, we’ve added Marcus Ericsson. His brother (Hampus) drives with us in our Super Trofeo class as well. Graham designed the livery this year and it looks pretty cool. We’ve made some changes for 2026 and we’re ready to get going this weekend.”

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini crew will begin preparations at the annual Roar Before the Rolex 24 as they participate in three days of testing around the 3.56-mile road course on January 16-18, 2026. The Rolex 24 at Daytona is set for January 24-25, 2026.

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “It’s a new year and a new opportunity to achieve the results that the No. 45 DEX Wayne Taylor Racing crew rightfully deserve. We had an excellent test back in November, and in my estimation, that was the real start of the 2026 IMSA season and kicked off this short off season with a high level of confidence. Between that and our Rolex 24 effort last year still fresh in our memory, I think we’re more than prepared to attack for victory in 2026. From a team perspective, Danny and I became a stronger and stronger unit as 2025 pressed on. Graham progressed throughout the year with some killer stints at both Indianapolis and Road Atlanta, and having Marcus aboard with us for the Rolex 24 brings a whole new base of knowledge and perspective that will only make us a better team. The short off season was a nice opportunity for all of us to reset, refit, and focus on the new year, but I think we’re all more than ready to go racing again.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “The 24 hours at Daytona, my favorite event of the year, and I think everyone's favorite event of the year.  With an incredible team in the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 with Wayne Taylor Racing, we are ready to go. An amazing team this year with Marcus Ericsson joining us for the 24 hours of Daytona and being back with Trent Hindman and Graham Doyle. Towards the end of the year, we hit our stride.  We found the baseline set up of the car and were showing speed. Obviously, the results were not there due to some bad luck, but 2026 is a new era for us. This time luck will be on our side. We know the car now and I'm very excited to get to Daytona after leading the race last year before the issues took us out in the last hour. I think we have a sour taste in our mouths, and we want to go out and show everyone that that was not a fluke. I’m so super excited to get going in 2026 with this incredible team and so grateful for this opportunity to be part of this amazing organization of Wayne Taylor Racing and Lamborghini.”

Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Daytona is always a special place to kick off the season. The Roar gives us a great opportunity to dial in the car, work through long-run balance, and build on the chemistry we have as a team. Everyone puts a lot of preparation into this event, and our focus is on being smart, consistent, and putting ourselves in a position to contend when it matters most. I’m looking forward to continuing to work alongside Danny and Trent, as well as working with Marcus. I can’t wait to get back to work and start up the best time of the year.”

Marcus Ericsson, Rolex 24 co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “I’m super excited to be back at Daytona this month. It’s the best way to start a racing season. And to do it with WTR feels amazing. I think we have a great lineup and I’m eager to go racing. Thankful for the opportunity and ready for the challenge. Bring it on!”
