The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team will shift their focus towards the pursuit of the full season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as they head to the streets of Long Beach for their first of two back-to-back California sprint races. For the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD team, this marks their third year challenging full time in the GTD class and their third attempt for glory on the iconic 1.97-mile street circuit.
Entering their second season as co-drivers for the full IMSA schedule, Danny Formal and Trent Hindman, will pilot the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán around the tight 11-turn temporary street course. Formal will enter his third consecutive year of competition at Long Beach, while Hindman will take on his fourth attempt around the circuit – with his best finish being a podium in 2021. The duo will look to capitalize on their previous experience at the 100-minute iconic SoCal event to contend for a class victory.
“I’ve been looking forward to seeing the GTD program at Long Beach,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Co-Owner. “I think Danny and Trent are two of the best GT drivers out there. I think we have a good chance. I think we are in a position to get a good result.”
The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD Wayne Taylor Racing team will take to the condensed two-days of on track action in the streets of Long Beach beginning on Friday, April 17, with two practice sessions and qualifying to end the day at 8:25 p.m. ET (5:25 p.m. PT). The Grand Prix of Long Beach will see the green flag fly at 4:05 p.m. ET (1:05 p.m. PT) with streaming available for all 100 minutes on Peacock.
Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Long Beach is not only the shortest race on our calendar, but it is also the shortest racetrack in terms of track distance. Considering the time of the race itself, the length of the lap, and the close-quarters nature of a street circuit, qualifying position will be hugely important. There is always an opportunity to gain track position through a well-timed, well-executed pit stop. Long Beach is only a single stop race for GTD and a very short energy fill time, meaning the longest part of our stop and difference between landing the No.45 DEX Lamborghini on or off the podium could potentially come down to the driver change between Danny and me. Finding a good balance and set-up for the car at Long Beach could get tricky considering the nature of a street circuit - track conditions and grip levels are constantly evolving, it’s bumpy, there are quite a few pavement changes, crowned cross sections of roadway, etc. More than all of that though, the limited amount of time we have to work on our car between Practices 1 and 2, then between Practice 2 and Qualifying poses the most significant challenge. There isn’t a lot of time to prepare the car for Qualifying specifically, which plays such a critical role towards the end race result. So, rolling off the truck with a good package and being efficient with the time we are given are the highest priorities.”
Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Our California tour starts this week. I’m super excited to get back to Long Beach. We had a difficult year in 2025 there with some electrical issues that took us out of contention. But in 2024, we had a great year – my first top five in GTD. I’m excited to get back there with the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team. As a go-karter, it’s one of the coolest tracks we go to, and it just reminds me of all the karting tracks. Risk versus reward is much appreciated around Long Beach. In Qualifying, you definitely have to kiss the wall as they say. We’ve had a nice break from Sebring to Long Beach, and I think the team have been working hard to get the car back to its perfect condition after the mechanical failure in Sebring. Cannot wait to get on track!”
