Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) heads to Daytona International Speedway for the kickoff to the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with the annual testing sessions at the Roar Before the Rolex 24. The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 will enter its’ sophomore season of Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) competition as a full-time participant on the IMSA grid.

At control of the No. 45 Lamborghini includes WTR veteran, Danny Formal, and welcome the return of two-time IMSA GTD champion and former Lamborghini Super Trofeo driver with WTR, Trent Hindman, to handle the full season driving responsibilities. Young sportscar driver, Graham Doyle, will once again join the No. 45 DEX team to contest at the five IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup (IMEC) events set on the schedule this season. Longtime WTR driver, Kyle Marcelli, joins the team as the fourth co-driver at the ‘round the clock endurance classic of the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA.

“I’m very excited for our second year in GTD,” said Team Owner, Wayne Taylor. “This program saw a lot of growth in 2024 and the team is ready to build on that this season. Our lineup with Danny Formal and welcoming back Trent Hindman to WTR. Adding in Graham Doyle for his second season in IMSA and Kyle Marcelli, this team has the ability to go and win races. We have great partners with DEX and Lamborghini with the GTD program and ready to get 2025 started at the Roar this weekend.”

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 will sport a new look for the 2025 with a dazzling silver chrome design that certainly will draw attention on and off the track. With the move of qualifying back to the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA race weekend, all four of the WTR Lamborghini drivers will be keen to utilize all the track time associated with the Roar Before the Rolex 24.

Friday will mark the official start of the 2025 IMSA season as the first of three days full of track testing sessions for the Roar the Before Rolex 24. The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini team then will begin race weekend preparations on Thursday, January 23. Danny Formal, Full Season Co-Driver

“Super excited to get the 2025 season going. This is my second season with WTR in the No. 45 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2. We had great pre-season testing, welcoming my new teammate for the full season, Trent Hindman, and while sharing the car with Graham Doyle and Kyle Marcelli. We had a fantastic test. The team was getting used to the new torque sensors that will be used in this 2025 season. It was a great test and the team had great harmony. The level is so high in GTD. There are so many great drivers and factory teams. As I look back to our freshman year in 2024, you saw the incredible growth of the team and drivers as we learned the car. These cars are so reliable, that the Rolex 24 has become a sprint race. We have a great team, DEX and Lamborghini behind us. It should be a great season.”

Trent Hindman, Full Season Co-Driver

“Crazy to think that the 2025 Roar and Rolex 24 are upon us once again. Regrettably, it’s been one full year since my last outing in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, so excitement, motivation, and preparation are at an all-time high. Though with that said, the anticipation of a new season, with a new car, and a return to a familiar team in Wayne Taylor Racing creates a high level of confidence in the package we’ve got. Very simply put, Wayne Taylor Racing is an organization that knows how to win IMSA races and championships, and Lamborghini is a strong partner of the team that knows very well how to execute and achieve the same results. Communication at all levels, I feel, is a very important point in achieving success in IMSA competition, and there is no shortage of it between the drivers, team, and manufacturer. Working with Danny, Graham, and Kyle, as well as a team that remains largely unchanged since the last time we had worked together seven years ago really makes me excited for what is to come this year. GTD continues to get stronger and stronger. I think it’s safe to assume that all categories in IMSA competition become more competitive each year, but GTD’s level seems to be exponential. All teams and drivers are well seasoned and have high quality programs, but attention to detail seems to be what creates the slimmest margins between success and failure at this level. To me, this is where Wayne Taylor Racing excels and it’s a great quality to have on your side when competing in one of the most intense GT categories in the world.”

Graham Doyle, IMEC Co-Driver

“I couldn’t be more excited to kick off the 2025 IMSA season with the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Starting the year with such an iconic race sets the tone for the entire championship, and I’m ready to get back behind the wheel. Working with Wayne Taylor Racing and Lamborghini is an incredible opportunity; their legacy and expertise, combined with Lamborghini’s engineering, give us a strong platform to compete at the highest level. The GTD class is one of the most competitive in IMSA, and that makes every race an exciting challenge. My expectations are high, but I know consistency and flawless execution will be key as we push for strong results this season. The Roar Before the Rolex 24 is such a valuable opportunity for us, especially with qualifying now on race weekend. These sessions allow us to fine-tune every detail and build confidence going into the race. I’m confident we’re prepared to hit the ground running.”

Kyle Marcelli, Rolex 24 at DAYTONA Co-Driver

“It’s absolutely wild how quick the turnaround is from the 2024 season ending race at MOTUL Petit Le Mans to the start of 2025 and the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA! There is no rest. Add in a few post-season/pre-season tests and most would agree there is no off-season, no rest. Teams are working around the clock preparing and drivers need to maintain conditioning and focus at all times. But we love it! And, always looking forward the start of a new season. With a season under our belt, the WTR No. 45 team is returning more prepared, more matured and ready to start the season at the front. I look forward to returning to a familiar cockpit of controls and alongside a group of drivers whom have become friends over the years. Rolex 24 At DAYTONA will be a good time, especially if we can keep the DEX Lamborghini at the front. There’s no arguing the fact the GTD class is one of the most competitive, primarily because of the large number of entries, but also because there is no weak link on the grid; IMSA is filled with quality teams/cars and all are capable of winning on any given day. That being said, I feel quite positive about our chances at Daytona this year. I think we will have the speed needed and will just need to do our best to survive and avoid drama to be there at the end when it matters most.”
