Indianapolis, IN (December 6, 2016) – At this past weekend’s Lamborghini World Final in Valencia, Spain, host to over sixty international drivers and teams, Prestige Performance and Wayne Taylor Racing became the 2016 North American Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Team Champions and, for the first time in the series history, clinched four of the six Championship Titles in the North American Series.
Throughout 2016, the Prestige Performance Race Team, built momentum, one podium at a time towards its dominating Championship sweep of both the Pro and Pro-Am Categories. In fact, the two-car combined effort of the #1 and #10 Prestige Performance team won a stellar eleven out of 24 races, came second in class nine times, third in class twice, and saw just one seventh place finish and one DNF. As a result of their hard work, the Prestige Performance team were honored with a season for the record books:
• Shinya Michimi – 2016 North American Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro Driver Champion
• Trent Hindman (Pro)/Craig Duerson(Am) – 2016 North American Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro-Am Driver Champions
• Prestige Performance – 2016 North American Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Team Champions
• Prestige Performance – 2016 North American Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Dealer Champion, Lamborghini Paramus
Highlights of the 2016 season include six Pro Category race wins and 6 second place finishes by Shinya Michimi as well as four Pro-Am race wins and 9 Top Five finishes by Trent Hindman and Craig Duerson, including an overall win at Road America.
In 2017, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series will hold five race events, during the prestigious IMSA WeatherTech Championship weekends, at such iconic US sports car circuits as Circuit of the Americas (May 4-6), Watkins Glen (June 29- July 1), Road America (August 4-6), Virginia International Raceway (August 25-27), and Laguna Seca (September 22-24). The World Finals will be held in Imola, Italy (November 16-19).
