The No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP for Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) will start Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen from the outside of the second row after IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying Saturday afternoon at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Ricky Taylor, who with his brother and co-driver Jordan Taylor are coming off a win in the series’ most recent event at Detroit, turned a fast qualifying lap today of 1 minute, 35.749 seconds at 127.8 mph on the 3.4-mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen road course. It was fastest among the Daytona Prototypes and good for fourth overall among 42 car-and-driver combinations that will take the green flag Sunday for the annual midsummer six-hour endurance marathon.

“We had a great car again,” said Ricky Taylor, who’s also joined by veteran Italian Max “The Ax” Angelelli this weekend for the first time since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March. “Our car at Watkins Glen is always good. We tested here and found some good information on our Corvette and the Continental tires. We were able to use that knowledge today to put ourselves up much higher in the field than we would have been, otherwise. The P2 cars seem to be in a different class but we were able to put ourselves with them. It says a lot about our team and how we executed and applied what we learned in qualifying. We were going faster than we expected and burned more fuel than we thought. I maybe missed it a little bit on the last couple of laps but, in the end, I don’t think the result would have changed.”
